Champion Cheaters: Epilogue, by Mark Erickson

Remember the hype and saga surrounding the Jackie Robinson West Little League team from Chicago that competed for the Little League championship game in summer 2014?

Earlier this week the two lawsuits have been settled/dismissed.  The decision by Little League International to strip JRW of its title remains, and the suit against two coaches has been dismissed.  Regarding the latter, the attorney representing the coaches to this day opines his clients did not know numerous players lived outside the team’s designated residential boundaries.  As a former Little League coach, I find the statement to be unbelievable in light of one coach and his son, the team’s star pitcher, lived outside the boundary.

How can a coach NOT know this?

The sons of both coaches currently play baseball in college, and I congratulate this accomplishment.  (Neither of their Twitter pages reference this week’s decisions.)
