True Story: Crows Battle Hawk to Protect Chihuahua, by Phoebe Boule

The video above declares that crows are as smart as a seven year old human and I’m here to tell you they are way smarter than a seven year old.

I have a lot of crows in my yard and I feed them several times a week and they are very loyal to me. Once last summer when my chihuahua was outside I did not see the hawk and it came down to pick my dog up and just as he dove after her, got within 10 feet above her, coming for her, the crows I feed flew out of the trees and about 4 of them attacked the hawk and thwarted his ability to pick my dog up. I thank God they did this as I was running for my dog but she was too far away to get to her in time had they not intervened. Every time that hawk hunts his territory around my yard he goes hungry as the crows will not allow him to hunt in my yard.

Two days ago I watched one pick up a piece of bread and take it to the side yard where the grass was higher and place his bread on the ground and take a leaf and cover it up. Then he hopped about ten feet away and picked up and other slice he had on the ground and was eating it when the other crows came in. He picked up the piece he was eating and flew off and the rest followed then about 20 minutes later came back by himself and got the piece he had hidden and he ate it.

I love my crows and they love me and my dog. They screech very loud when the hawk is in the yard and announce his presence so I never have a repeat of a stealth attack.
