Dicte Torn by Love & Loss in Spectacular, “Bring Back My Man” by Knute Rimkus

Something is molten in the state of Denmark. With her new single, “Bring Back My Man,” Danish singer-songwriter Dicte evokes Amy Winehouse and Janice Joplin. Urgently growling over a driving soul groove, Dicte pleads hopelessly.

Maybe it’s just the ghost of Winehouse haunting the chorus, but top-shelf gin seems to infuse this song. When Dicte pledges, “I’ll change for the better. I’ll change forever,” it sounds like a rehab promise she’s just not going to keep.

I don’t know much about Dicte, so this track might be right in her wheelhouse or a break from her style, but whichever it is, it smolders nicely.
