Larry Ramos, the first Asian-American to win a Grammy, was Filipino

Larry Ramos (April 19, 1942 – April 30, 2014), the first Asian-American to win a Grammy Award, was of Filipino descent. Born in Hawaii, his first instrument was the ukulele. He won the Grammy playing banjo with the New Christy Minstrels in 1963, but he is most widely remembered for a long singing and guitar-playing career with the Association.
