This Machine Still Kills Fascists, by Davin Michael Stedman

This is a nightmare. I better come out of this thing like Robert f☆cking Johnson. Not the dead version.

Well at least Woody Guthrie. Not the one Bob Dylan sang to in a hospital bed.

There a few possible outcomes and endless variations.

At a certain point as touring and venues either collapse or stay dark, there is going to be a speak easy culture of music; flying pigs, juke joints, gatherings in forests where people will be chastised for taking pictures for fear of social backlash for gathering.

Maybe it’s already happening. Maybe it’s coming soon. There is a grey area between whether you should because the pandemic has subsided and the presence of industry ready to provide the infrastructure for such entertainment.

Playing an acoustic show for ten or 15 people from under the canopy of a tree maybe a revelation.

But things like insurance and packing sardines into a tin can is more complex now than bribing a fire chief for going over capacity on a Thursday night.

Imagine a future like yesterday where there are talking drones breaking up crowds, and the police are looking at cell phone communicating with towers to pin point where music might be.

Basements, fields, leave your cell phones at home and go back to a better future, one underground show at a time.

There was a time before everyone was wearing a tracking device and a wire.

Now the angry birds are drones shouting in French to go home.

In Italy drones take temperatures and issue fines. The future sucks bro. But this machine still fights Fascists.

We are doing what is necessary to fight a pandemic our nations failed us in not containing. We are doing our part. But they aren’t just going to give up these toys and these wartime powers so easily.

The first verse and chorus to The Staxx Brothers' Sugarwalls! I'll post Ayo Dot's verse next. When LIVE MUSIC is legal again, Staxx is back with this classic track.
