In a New York Times Op-Ed piece published less than a week ago (2/17/20) by David Brooks, he opined that education made democratic Scandinavian socialist societies succeed. I really like this Brooks quote.

Whether in Stockholm or Minneapolis, Scandinavians have a tendency to joke about the way their sense of responsibility is always nagging at them.
