Mal Élevé – Planet

Mal Élevé, his name means “rude” in French, but in this song he’s rapping in German and maybe French too. Europeans can really go to town where languages are concerned. Now he is releasing his new Single “Planet” – a musical accusation that we’re all just endlessly discussing climate contracts instead of actually saving our Planet that is ending right in front of our eyes.

“We have no Planet B.”
Mal Élevé releases the song “Planet”, the second single from his upcoming solo debut “Résistance mondiale”.
“What has to happen before we finally understand it”, asks Mal Élevé in his new song, “we only have this one planet!” The song “Planet” is a charge against all of us. An accusation that we’re just endlessly discussing climate treaties instead of saving the world that’s going down before our eyes. On a melancholic instrumental, the former front singer of Irie Révoltés lets the world we have to lose pass us by. “Colourful planet”, he sings, “unbelievably beautiful”.
Mal Élevé sees himself not only as a musician, but above all as a political activist. For almost 20 years he set countless people in motion with his band Irie Révoltés. Now he continues his musical protest as a solo artist. The revolution continues: his first solo album “Résistance mondiale” will be released in spring 2020. In April 2020 he will tour Germany, Switzerland and the Czech Republic with his new live band. “I’m fighting for a world without borders, racism and exploitation,” he describes what drives him. And Mal Élevé makes sure that his message is heard. His new song “Planet” is a protest anthem for the “Fridays for Future” movement, which he’s supported from the beginning and together with the band SEEED he will be performing at the global climate strike in Berlin on November 29th 2019. Because: “We have no Planet B.”

Here’s a clip of Mal Eleve at the Brandenburg Gate. That’s one concert I would have loved to attend. Europe is the center of music and enlightenment now.

One of his recent videos in French is so good it deserves another hundred looks:
