a. harlana – american boy

Dear Sweet, Innocent, Music Fans Everywhere:

In 2008, Estelle wrote and recorded her modern classic, “American Boy.” Young Juno Roome, attempting to navigate middle school in a then still new country, as well as trying to learn the tools necessary to be an eventual ambient folk star (which we’re certain he will be one day), heard the song and felt an immediate connection to it. It was fun, it was cool. The ebullient flirtation of the lyrics and the fresh production were simply irresistable. A restless wanderer and artistic explorer, Juno had to record an a. harlana version. And here it is:

Quoth Mr. Roome in regarding the aforementioned jam: “oh man — i just thought estelle’s american boy was just a really cool song, and i wanted to do my version of it. it’s the first tune that my bassist jake plays in on the recording.”

We hope you check it out. And if you like it, please share. Check out a. harlana on a coast to coast tour this summer. Dates coming soon.

Bio:
Juno Roome could be America’s poster child for “Least Suspicious Egomaniac,” which is hilarious considering he printed 500 f*cked up business cards. He really wanted a much larger font. (Editor’s note: I’m very happy with the cards.) So that between the business cards and the new guitar, he could pull off subtly overcompensating with a hip aesthetic. Juno also powerlifts and subsists off chicken and vegetables, which makes him the nerdiest bro I know. And is honestly sad because he’ll never be truly accepted by nerds, or validated by bros. He is an art bro, a breed all their own.
