My Sausage Days: Staring into the Vortex of Christmas on my 39th Christmas Day, by Davin Michael Stedman

Merry Christmas. Whether you’re off brand, or on brand, remember that this all only means a damn if we’re good to each other.

Lets pause and remember how we can do this life by next year even better. The road is uncertain and we do need each other. Enjoy the moment, and this strange vortex in which the sounds of Lawrence Welk is King again, for this shall also pass.

But it’s fun to hear what time might snuff out, to become born again, like the mix of terrible songs the rise each December, among the pretty good ones we just can’t kill.

Frosty The Snowman is a better name for a Pimp than a quasi religious symbol that dies by the warmth of human touch. But that’s OK. He’ll be back next year.

These are my sausage days.

I worked out pretty hard this year to enjoy this breakfast of salted pork, cinnamon rolls, and off brand Irish Creme. And I will jog joyfully at sunset burning this hardy fuel.

I wanted to do more this Christmas to be Christmacy, but I did it so hard the last two years, they are playing my song on KING 5 as I speak. I didn’t even pull out that Santa suit.

I wanted to sing Irish Christmas songs for Wyatt Powell and his half Irish kids and his wife from County Cork. And my nieces and nephews as well.

But maybe next year. I did get some good things done this year. If I can just show you the good things I did and share that with a million more oh boy then we got something.

‘Free Your Mind’ was just a sip from this jug. But opening that jug and pouring you a shot of that heady Jamaican Northwest blend was one of the greatest victories of my life, and I would be a damn fool to underestimate what an accomplishment that was and all who helped me make it happen.

BJ DjSticky you got me there. Anthony Cameron you made that song happen and took it to the finish line. Garrett Gibbons you made sure I looked like a star and that song has video that will let it be a hit.

Zac Fawcett you yet again made a cover for a single that was better than any of my previous album covers. And I have good album covers.

There is work to do. I am a little behind schedule in some regards. But when you hit a homerun don’t forget to touch all the bases and be thankful you hit the right pitch.

Merry Christmas everybody.

I really want to see what we can all accomplish if we help each other this time next year. I only have so much time. We all do. But last night I wrote down who I could really help and what I could do for them. And it’s something.

We can all transform ourselves with a little support and if we’re ready to accept those gifts. I am trying to help some folks that are ready to help themselves.

Anthony Red Rose did.

Davin’s new song has become a global earworm and Caribbean dancehall hit. Listen here on Reggaeville: DAVIN MICHAEL STEDMAN & ANTHONY RED ROSE – FREE YOUR MIND FEAT. SLY & ROBBIE WITH LENKY MARSDEN. The video is now available on Youtube.
