A big theme for me that I keep thinking about is this: I don’t want to waste people’s time.
Time is a treasure beyond measure. We don’t know how much of it we have left. People are willing to give it if they don’t feel it is going to be squandered and unappreciated, and that can be a beautiful and wonderous thing. It’s a gift.
I am going to give some people my time in 2019. I am going to ask for people’s time in 2019.
If I manage my time well;
If I can be on time as an artist, as I have been to these strange new things I call day jobs (which I truly appreciate), 2019 could be quite spectacular.
I still get to dream and dream hard. Being creative is not a waste of time. The fact so many friends of mine read my daily rants and off the cuff essays, and give me feedback and valuable commentary is a gift.
I just need to make the best use of their time, and publish the best of what I can do in places they can enjoy them later and truly support, such as on their bookshelf, and in their collection of vinyl.
…and when I ask them to come to shows, and pay for tickets, parking, baby sitter, what have you, I want to reward their time with something truly remarkable, memorable, and valuable.
Something that rewards them for giving me their time. Because even the money we share and invest in one another, is not fiat currency, it is real…because ultimately it equals,
TIME.
I want to master it 2019. And treat it like a treasure, for what is more fleeting than what you cannot grasp but only surrender.
