Join The Nation-Wide March For Women April 28, 2012, By Holly Homan

An organization called Organizing Against the War On Women has recently formed in protest of all the legislation being introduced and passed to restrict women’s access to birth control, from having a legal abortion, and mandating invasive medical procedures for any woman seeking an abortion. Women all over the country have had enough of a few middle aged men (and some middle aged women) and ignorant religious leaders, interfering with our bodies and our choices.

Organizing Against the War On Women is in the process of organizing a march on Saturday April 28th, 2012. The Seattle event is still in the planning stages, but looks like it will begin at 12:30. Their page can be found on Facebook. Men and women who deplore what is happening, are encouraged to attend the march and join the group. So far, the group has over 10,000 members. You must ask to join the group first. Response (acceptance) is pretty immediate.

In the state of Virginia, legislation was introduced that would require women seeking abortions to have the invasive procedure called transvaginal ultrasound. Since most abortions are performed in the first seven weeks. The standard jelly on the belly ultrasound will not detect a fetal heartbeat nor will it detect any evidence of embryonic life. The only way to detect embryonic life is to insert a wand into the woman’s vagina. Such procedures are only done when there is medical need. If it is suspected the embryo has died, for instance.

Ironically the Taliban treats their women similarly. That’s right, the same legislators who sounded the war cry against the Taliban are trying to enact the same types of laws governing women’s bodies as if we should be subordinate and do whatever the man wishes for us.

Virginia isn’t alone. Although Virginia has had to back down on this law, Pennsylvania has taken the torch and is trying to pass similar legislation. Texas has just defunded Planned Parenthood at the state level. There is an all-out war on women that has been started by a few nut jobs who somehow got elected into public office and equally nutty religious leaders.

All Americans have the right to make decisions about their own bodies, including contraception, without interference from government, business or religious institutions. Everyone is invited to join, plan, and march oh April 28th 2012. Everyone is invited to join, plan, and rally as we demand every person so that we may all stand together to demand that every person be granted equal opportunities, equal rights, and equal representation.

Help defend women’s rights and pursuit of equality as we come together as one to tell members of congress in Washington DC and legislators in all 50 states enough is enough!
