Portland Foodies Hold Benefit Feb. 5 for Owners of Stolen and Trashed Azul Tequila Taqueria Cart

STOLEN FOOD CART BENEFIT CONCERT

On Saturday, February 5, 2011, A La Carts Food Pavilion (4926 SE Division St with an entrance on SE 50th Ave) will hold a Portland foodie community event to benefit the owners of Azul Tequila Mexican Taqueria, the food cart stolen from the A La Carts food pod on January 17th. It was an event that shocked all of us but deeply affected two families left without a source of income and thousands of dollars of property loss. The benefit, which will include food specials, live music and raffle prizes, is aimed at helping owners Alfredo, Joel and their families bear some of the heavy financial burden incurred by the sudden theft of not just their property, but their entire business.

From 4pm to 8pm on February 5th, all carts in the pod will donate 20% of their proceeds to the cause. Also, several local businesses have generously agreed to donate merchandise and/or gift certificates as raffle prizes. This not only includes gift certificates from food carts all over Portland, but also a wide array of prizes ranging from bike gear to haircuts to clothing to jewelry, body piercings, tattoos and more. All raffle proceeds will go to help Azul Tequila recoup their losses. Several volunteers will aid in the day’s events, including those operating raffle tables and organization, event set up and tear down, not to mention the local musicians generously donating their time and equipment to entertain those in attendance.
