Camille Tredoux’s Beautiful “Love Me to the Bone”

Camille Tredoux stands out among Portland singer-songwriters. Her main axe is piano, giving her a broader palette, more color, more style, more careful metric poetry, than most.

But there’s more. With the great ones, there always is.

She is able, she says, to blend “soul and mysticism” into her songs and lyrics, creating, a “concoction of heartfelt and ethereal ballads that draw upon my time in varying landscapes and interactions with a wide range of people,” no easy feat for anyone, much less a newcomer, debuting her first song release, as Tredoux is doing today.

That beautiful debut song and video that you’re being introduced to right now is called, “Love Me To The Bone” and it cuts deep.

“I use my songwriting ability to channel the human experience,” says Tredoux, “touching on the themes of expansion, heartache, loneliness, and renewal.”

She’s not kidding.

“‘Love Me To The Bone’, captures a heartfelt beckoning to my unknown future life partner,” she says. “This
debut music video is an exploration of my journey through love, encapsulating the gritty pain that has accompanied difficult life circumstances, and the profound desire for a connection that goes beyond the surface. The narrative revolves around the quest for a person who shares a similar life vision—a soulmate unafraid to dive deep into the complexities of life and face its realities with curiosity and courage.”

To create the perfect look and feel for visuals in this video, Tredoux collaborated with local artists and film titans from Portland State University. The video is set at a jazz bar in the 1920’s and is shot in black and white.

“It captures a musician singing to a crowd that is only partially engaged with the performance,” Tredoux says. “The scenes waffle between up-close shots of the singer, wide angle scenes of the crowd, and a slow camera rotation around the singer and piano. While the video mostly keeps to one consistent scene, the singer’s facial expressions and emotive voice convey the depth of yearning, painting a vivid picture of the trials and tribulations faced on the journey to finding a true connection. The video crescendos with a mysterious figure watching the singer from afar – a man who ends up being the only remaining person in the room by the end of the song…”

Tredoux calls the release of this heartfelt video a “significant milestone in my artistic journey.” She seeks to be known as “an artist who breaks through illusion and falsehood without fear of toiling in obscurity. Sharing my life story through song allows me to give back to others – it is my form of activism. I have a deep desire to provide a space for listeners to let down their guard and reflect on their feelings and experiences. Perhaps, my music can prompt dialogue around developing an authentic relationship with oneself and others.”

There is no higher calling.
