Austin party-punks A Giant Dog mark their territory at PDX Dante’s on 11/11

Austin, TX party-punks A Giant Dog are headed to Portland soon. Their latest record, a narrative concept album called Bite, came out earlier this year on Merge Records. Audiences love their onstage anarchy and white-knuckle recordings, but Bite is a different beast altogether — the band went to rural France (where there was plenty of room to run off-leash) at the end of last year to record songs about, amongst other things, gender dysphoria and the dangers of AI and VR.

What’s more, they found a way to build on their rough-and-rowdy sound with thick string arrangements and some truly insightful lyrics. The album might be set in a virtual utopia, but there is still plenty of real life wisdom to sniff out from the lyrics.

They’re headlining Dante’s on Saturday, November 11.
