Jörgen and Emilia Andersson’s beautiful new song, “Covered in snow”

As the austere Nordic fall eases in to the enchanting atmosphere of holiday times, acclaimed singer and songwriter Jörgen Andersson releases the solemn  winter ballad ”Covered in Snow”. The song is a portrait of returning to your childhood home town for Christmas, and the conflicting feelings it brings.

Talking about the origin of the song, Jörgen explains : “I have written “Covered in snow” in a different way than I usually write my songs – this one is written in the style of Elton John. I started from a beautiful text written by my daughter Emilia, and added a melody to it. I first recorded it with a full set, drums, bass and guitars, but I felt that I should redo it with just my main instrument: piano. Then I couldn’t just stick to the piano, but also added strings, which I feel lifts the song nicely at the end.”

The single has been described as worthy of the grand, ancient opera stages – a scenario that is not unlikely considering Jörgen’s track record of achievements and critical acclaim ; For several years, Jörgen has been writing songs in collaboration with Lars “Dille” Diedricson – the man behind the Eurovision Song Contest winner ‘Take Me To Your Heaven’ performed by Charlotte Perelli in 1999. Per Gessle, songwriter and member of the legendary pop duo Roxette has, while having liverwurst sandwiches for several hours (an occasion which arose from their common interests of Formula 1 racing) complimented Jörgen on his songwriting for being really strong. As if that wasn’t enough of a proof that Jörgen knows how to write grand songs: On his old Yamaha QY 10 sequencer where he used to record song ideas back in the old days, there is a melody almost identical to Westlife’s ‘My Love’, and on the sequencer it stayed safe and unheard while Jörgen was attempting to become a world champion in latin dance; solely out-powered by Ann Wilson – these days known as the exalted and celebrated judge of Swedish Dancing With the Stars.

It was a late November, the air was cold
Sidewalks glistened from the first fall of snow
People come together for a week or two
Despite of their differences and the love that never grew.

Chorus

There I was once again, alone in the town I used to call my own
And Home never felt so distant when it was covered in snow
Of all the things I left behind, you were the one thing
that never left my mind

All grown up now but back here I feel like a kid
our home memories of where a family happily lived
People forget the past for one Holliday of bliss
This is the time to reminisce
