A “voice like a warm hug” is why Filipino-Australian DIY pop artist, grentperez, has “an exciting year ahead”

Growing up as the youngest of three kids in a Filipino family in Sydney, Australia, grentperez immersed himself in music, listening to bands like The Eagles, The Beatles, and Queen before moving on to the likes of Musiq Soulchild, which informs his “beautiful and effortless falsetto” (NPR Music). In 2013, at just 12 years old he posted his first video to his YouTube channel and has been experimenting with releasing his own self-written and recorded music ever since.

His new project, the genre-blurring compilation, Trail Mix Tape, will be out September 30th via Fast Friends and includes recently released summery single “Ego,” where he blends “blending chill vibes with technical prowess” (Sweety High). Wonderland praises grentperez’s “simplistic slow-burning soundscape filled with warming lyricism and soulful melodies,” while NPR Music says he has a “voice like a warm hug” and has “an exciting year ahead.”
