The Boundary-Defying Doom Sound of The Body – Nothing Stirs, by Mark Erickson

The other day I listened to WNUR, which is the student-run radio station at Northwestern University though students do not host all shows.  For example, Chuck Mertz @thisishellradio has conducted long-form interviews on an array of subjects for over 20 years and Erick Ricks has exposed me to jazz and contemporary classical music just as long. The younger generation of DJs feed me new music. So, when listening to the rock show, I heard a cool tune that then bumped up a few notches on my radar when the female vocalist joined the boundary-defying doom sound.

I checked the set list upon returning home.  The Body (no, not the former Minnesota governor, Jesse “The Body” Ventura @GovJVentura) wrote the song, “Nothing Stirs.”  A little research found The Body hails from Portland, OR.  The song featured guest vocalist, Kristin Hayter of Lingua Ignota.  The Body released the song as part of “I have fought against it, But I can’t any longer” on Thrill Jockey. Enjoy the ear candy!
