Five days and ninety-one years ago, a savior was born, by Steve Stav

King went to Memphis to help a labor dispute, two months before I was born… King went to a lot of places, knowing full well a gunman might be waiting. He went with a trust in his god, with conviction. But his god didn’t fail him… America failed Dr. King, and continues to fail him. Our love of money has always been intertwined with prejudice.

Fitting, that King was felled during a labor dispute. There will be no social justice until there is economic justice. Don’t anyone hold their breaths. A wolf-in-wolves’-clothing vice-president is further staining King’s legacy in Memphis as I write this.

Five days and ninety-one years ago, a savior was born. We’re still realizing this, as so many are still struggling with the validity of their god’s message, delivered a couple of thousand years ago.
