Babe Ruth and Race, by Davin Michael Stedman

Babe Ruth with a nutritionist and a life coach would dominate the major leagues today. He was more athletic than players today. You try to hit a 600 foot homerun drunk, 100 pounds over weight, with sleep apnea and gonorrhea.

Great athlete.

Show me one athlete of any nationality hit the ball as far, run as fast, throw the ball as hard. Humans have not evolved in thousands of years. Agents have. Computers have. Scouting has.

Babe would have done better against better competition. He might not have been so bored.

And if you don’t think Babe Ruth was a little bit mixed, show me the German village that looks like Babe Ruth. His family tree had branches with some cold ass Brothers from DC. Guaranteed.

The kid looks Dominican.

Who’s your real Daddy Babe? Not that bar owner that barely claimed you.

Babe was awesome. They blocked him from owning a team because the first thing he was going to do was integrate the game.

Life is a little more complicated than our cookie cutter basic boiler plate conception of race as it exists online.

Embrace the complexity of this American life.
