Valkyries – Serf

The lovechild of four southeastern Tasmanians; Valkyries combine poetic lyrics alongside beautiful melodies woven through distorted, salacious 70’s-esque guitars. “Serf” is the latest single from the band.

Written for the soundtrack of a surf film by auteur Howard Groves, “Serf” is about the highs and lows of being a slave to a lifestyle. It has the sound of impending summer and all that the season drags with it.

Forming in 2017, band members Rob Woodward (lead guitar), Will Hollick (rhythm guitar, vocals), Darcy James (bass) and Dan Roberts (drums) create their music in an old shed on a farm in Clifton Beach, Australia. In a very short time, with little promotion, Valkyries have gathered an enthusiastic following of loyal fans across a wide spectrum of age groups.

Valkyries early demo track; “Stone Cold Killer,” featured in an Instagram video of actor Chris Hemsworth with over 500,000 views and widespread interest in the music. Valkyries have written the sound track for a number of surf films.

The band are focusing on writing more, growing as a tight musical unit and continuing to play live. They are hoping to record an album soon and are continuing their work with a number of Tasmanian and mainland filmmakers. Valkyries are anticipating an increased audience through increased airplay and touring in the not too distant future.

This crew lives to jam, perform live and record…
