David Bowie’s Space Oddity – Chris Hadfield

Here is a revised version of David Bowie’s “Space Oddity”– a song originally recorded on earth and released June 11, 1969 to coincide with the Apollo 11 moon landing– which was recently covered by Canadian Astronaut, Commander Chris Hadfield, while on board the International Space Station. Someone had to do this eventually– cover the “Major Tom” tune while actually in space– and Commander Hadfield actually has kind of an interesting voice, so “Well played, Canada. Well played.” He looks like an actor, too. Perhaps a showbiz career awaits him on return to The True North Strong and Free. As an American, I’m a little saddened that our astronauts didn’t think of this first. Apparently they were too busy wearing diapers, forming love triangles and plotting kidnappings to revisit the Thin White Duke.
