Are You Ready to Go? Make Sure Your Camper Is Too, By Jeremy Ellis

The best part of having a camper is the ability to pick up and go whenever the mood strikes. If your camper isn’t as ready as you are, your spontaneity can be severely interrupted. If you and your family are the types that like to pick up and go at a moment’s notice, it’s important that you keep your camper stocked. Here are five ways to make sure that your camper is always ready for your next trip:

1.The Kitchen

Keep your camper’s kitchen stocked with the essentials. If you buy new dishes for the house, put your old set in the RV. If you visit tag sales, estate sales or flea markets, keep your eyes open for crock pots, stock pots and cutlery. Keep your camper’s cupboards stocked with non-perishable food items like canned goods, dried beans and pasta. Keeping your kitchen stocked will make sure that you don’t have to waste valuable time at the grocery store before you go.

2.The Bedroom

Most campers are designed with storage space ample enough to store bed linens. Make sure that you keep extra blankets, at least one sheet set and a couple of pillows in your camper at all times. If you’re worried about musty odors or mold, invest in a few space-saving, vacuumed sealed storage bags and keep your linens in those. Charity shops and garage sales are a great source of cheap bedding that you can stash in your camper.

3.The Bathroom

If you belong to any warehouse stores, they can be great sources of bargains for stocking your camper’s bathroom. If you use a certain soap or shampoo, look for bundles of the product that you can purchase. By buying two or more, you’ve got one for your house and one to store in your camper. Try to keep your cabinets stocked with new toothbrushes, bottled soap, shampoo, conditioner, sunscreen and toothpaste. Remember to keep at least one roll of toilet paper in the camper’s bathroom as well.

4.The Necessities

Sit down and think about what it is that you’ll need to be comfortable on your trip; you’ll obviously need clothing, but what else? Do you need a comfortable pair of walking shoes? Will it be a good idea to keep an umbrella handy? Think of all of the things that you’ll need for your vacation and, if it makes sense, store at least one of each of these items in your camper.

5.The Camper

Once you’ve stocked the inside of your camper, it’s time to make sure that the camper itself is ready to go. Make sure that you keep up with routine maintenance to keep your vehicle in good running condition. Keep your fresh water tank full at all times, keep your camper plugged in, and keep at least half of a tank of fuel in the vehicle at all times.

If you follow the five tips above, you’ll find that it’s incredibly easy to pick up and go whenever the mood strikes. Part of the benefit of having an RV is the ability to jump in and head off to parts unknown whenever you have a free weekend. When your camper is as ready to go as you are, you’re guaranteed to have a stress-free, relaxing getaway.
