A Music Issue From The Southern Magazine of Good Writers, By Bob Presthus

Howdy Folks,

I hope you are all well and that you have a survivable Holiday Season.

I’m also not sure how many of you are familiar with the yearly Oxford American Southern music issue.

It’s an annual issue of the “The Southern Magazine Of Good Writers” that focuses on music.

This is the 13th year and it always has a CD enclosed.

The writing is very good, as it should be. And it is not confined to Southern writers.

This year the focus is on music of Mississippi of many types starting in 1928 onwards, and the CD has 27 tracks.

If you like music or “gud ritin” at all, I would encourage you to rush out to your local bookstore/magazine seller and grab a copy before they are all sold out!

I’ve been doin’ it every year, and I’ve never been disappointed. Plus I’ve found very good music that I had not previously been exposed to.

Each artist on the CD, no matter how obscure, has at least one essay about them in the magazine.

Good readin’ & listenin’ to those of you who choose to do so.

– Bob Presthus
