Keith Olbermann’s Murrow-esque Excoriation of Michael Bloomberg, By Steve Stav

Keith Olbermann’s a disciple of Edward R. Murrow, but I find his addition of wry humor to the latter’s delivery paradigm to be hit-and-miss, though he maintains an admirable batting average. In contrast to Keith’s surging, bellowing blasts of Mayor Bloomberg, Murrow laid into Joseph McCarthy with this remarkably calm determination that watchers at the time had to have likened to some of his famous WWII reports… adding weight to his words. Having said that, I enjoy Olbermann immensely – there’s a reason, in this carefully controlled climate, that he’s relegated to basic cable while people like Katie Couric are on the networks. A Couric, of course, is a measure of crap-weight. As in, “I just took a dump that musta weighed 6 Courics!” Ah, the things you learn on South Park…
