NFL Week 14 – Santa Lucia Edition, by Ron Swanson

.

[Ed. Note – Santa Lucia Day, December 13, is celebrated around the world in honor of an Italian saint said to bring both light and luck on her special day. Ron needs her to bring him some luck right about now, NFL Week 14. Updated Tuesday Afternoon: Santa Lucia spills Ron’s coffee and burns his cardamom rolls. Vaunted Lucia magic nowhere to be found. Ron goes 5-10 this week.]

Thursday Night:

No – Indianapolis 3 TENNESSEE

Chris Johnson should be able to get it going against the Colts D, but I can’t see Manning losing 4 in a row. Colts to cover.

.

Sunday:

Yes – Atlanta 7 CAROLINA

The Falcons have a solid run D and incentive to keep winning for the home field advantage. Carolina is playing for the #1 pick.

No – Tampa Bay 2 WASHINGTON

The young Buccs continue to improve while the Redskins do not. Tampa in this one.

No – New England 3 CHICAGO

The weather will be a factor here. Hard to pick against the Patriots after their showing Monday night, but I think I will do so.

No – NEW ORLEANS 9 1/2 St. Louis

The Rams are playing pretty well and are still in the hunt in the weak NFC West. They should be able to keep it close.

Yes – JACKSONVILLE 4 1/2 Oakland

Hard to figure the Raiders this year, but the Jags are at home and I’ll take that.

Yes – SAN FRANCISCO 4 1/2 Seattle

The 49ers have to have this one. Not sure that’s enough, but it will have to do.

No – BUFFALO 1 1/2 Cleveland

The Browns tend to play to the level of their competition, but I think they get the win here.

No – NY JETS 5 1/2 Miami

The Jets will bounce back after getting blown out on the road.

No – Denver 3 ARIZONA

The Broncos should be relaxed after their coaching change and the Cardinals are just flat out bad. Denver covers.

Yes – MINNESOTA NA NY Giants

No line with Favre’s status up in the air. I’ll take the Giants +3 at this point.

No – SAN DIEGO 7 Kansas City

The Raiders ran all over the Chargers last week. Not a good sign going into a game against the Chiefs. KC to cover.

No – Green Bay 6 1/2 DETROIT

The Packers have too much to play for and are figuring out their running game. They should continue the Lions tough season.

No – PITTSBURGH 9 Cincinnati

The Bengals might be ready to quit on the season, but it’s a division game and they should keep it within 9.

.
Sunday Night:

No – Philadelphia 3 DALLAS

The Cowboys should have the athletes to stay with the Eagles in this one.
.
Monday Night:

Yes – Baltimore 3 HOUSTON

The Ravens should score enough against a poor defense to cover on the road.
