Turlock Hymnathon to Feed Starving Children

Below is the latest from Daniel Johnson of Hilmar, California. I commend it to you because I love hymns, love the town of Turlock and the Hymnathon seems like a worthy fundraiser:

Last January 1500 volunteers packed over 303,000 meals for hungry kids through Feed My Starving Children. It was such a hit with our community that we’re doing it again, this time with a goal of 2500 volunteers, 500,000 meals – and $110,000. I’m turning to all of you for some help with a crazy, fun, inspiring fundraiser for our food packing event: a “Hymnathon!”

It’s like any other “thon” event: hymn singers ask sponsors to donate so much money per hymn (10¢, 25¢, 50¢, etc.). We hope to sing 2 verses of 50 hymns in two hours on Nov. 4th. If just 100 singers raise $150 from sponsors, that’s $15,000 – just for singing praises to God! 200 singers = $30,000, etc. And 100% of the money goes to feed starving kids through FMSC.

If all of you sponsor me at just 20¢ a hymn, that’s $10 x how ever many of you are out there, that many, many meals for starving children! If you’re willing to help, email me at djohnson@hilmarcovenant.org and let me know what you’d like to do. The “Hymnathon” will be at Turlock Covenant Church, which seats 600 people. I see “standing room only” and God working a miracle through this hymn-singing event to bring us to our FMSC goal. I hope you’ll be a part of it. Thanks!
