“My new EP Nightshade (Hushed) is out now,” says Andrew Belle. “Ten years ago my manager suggested I release an acoustic version of Black Bear that would help bridge the sound gap between it and my first album The Ladder, which was more acoustic-driven and mellow. Instead I proposed we completely re-record 5 of the songs, changing the keys and tempos; dramatically reinterpreting the compositions until they felt like a completely new and interesting thing. What began then as a creative compromise has now turned into one of my favorite traditions, as today I officially announce the release of my third ‘hushed’ project, Nightshade (Hushed). I’m so proud of how we’ve given new life to these songs and am thrilled to now let go of them; because to be honest in a way I’ve felt like I haven’t been able to fully close the Nightshade chapter and move on to the next thing until this project was completed. I hope you get to spend a lot of time with it this spring and enjoy it as much as we did making it. It’s now time for me to begin working on new music. I’m not sure what that will sound or look like yet, but I’ve got a few ideas that I’m already excited about. As always, thank you for your continued support in all that I create.”
