Happy Valley, Oregon – Wednesday, February 28, 2024 – Pickathon, the acclaimed music festival that’s captivated audiences for 25 years with its immersive wonderland where fans discover music, arts, and culture fantastically integrated into the scenic landscape of Pendarvis Farm (12 miles outside of Portland, OR), is excited to announce the successful renewal of its Conditional Use Permit in Happy Valley. The renewal, granted by the Happy Valley Planning Commission, ensures the festival’s presence on Pendarvis Farm for the next 10 years.

“We are thrilled to announce that our 10-year permit at Pendarvis Farm has been approved, and we can officially confirm that Pickathon 2024 is happening!,” says Zale Schoenborn, Founder of Pickathon. “Right from the start, we reached out to our neighbors, the city of Happy Valley, and our community in the decision-making process for the future of Pickathon at Pendarvis Farm. This led to an incredible response, with over 1,500 letters of support and a massive turnout at the CUP approval meeting. We are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming enthusiasm we have received, and we look forward to bringing the best Pickathon experience yet to our community in summer 2024!”

Since its inception in 1999, Pickathon has become an integral part of the music community fabric, with innovation, inclusivity, and a commitment to sustainability coming to life like no other music festival in America. The Happy Valley Planning Commission cast votes in favor of Pickathon’s permit renewal during an evening session held at Happy Valley City Hall on February 27, 2024. The collective decision is a testament to the festival’s cultural significance, positive economic impact on the local community, and its dedication to maintaining a harmonious relationship with the beautiful Happy Valley surroundings. Pickathon is proud to spend the next decade onsite at  Pendarvis Farm where the festival has been hosted since 2006 (the first six years of Pickathon were held at Horning’s Hideout).

“We believe that Pickathon is one of the few independent cultural and ecologically-driven festivals that exist in the US and we want to see it continue to thrive at the farm in Happy Valley. The location is so important to the festival as it allows us all to connect with nature and the surrounding landscape and offers up activities for children and families ranging from permaculture to the petting zoo,” says British-born Piya Malik of Say She She.

“Pickathon is more than just a music festival; it is a celebration of community, diversity, and the arts. The festival has a unique ability to bring people together, transcending age, background, and ethnicity. For kids and adults alike, Pickathon serves as a communal space where the love for music is fostered and a genuine sense of togetherness prevails. Pendarvis Farm’s natural beauty adds an extra layer of enchantment that offers attendees a chance to connect with Mother Nature in a way that is rare for a music festival. We are particularly moved by Pickathon’s commitment to sustainability and supporting local communities. It’s a refreshing departure from the norm, allowing festival-goers to savor the rich tastes of the region through their exceptional food vendors while supporting local farmers and businesses,” says Thee Sinseers X The Altons

“Pickathon was the main reason I moved to Happy Valley in 2020. I’m a mile down the street from Pendarvis Farm… After the pandemic, my [construction] company got involved with Pickathon and built installations for the festival. Pickathon is so well curated and thoughtful, it should sustain,” – Tony, Happy Valley resident
