Seattle Indie Rock King Jim Basnight Brings the Fun on New ‘Summertime Peculiar’ Album

Before Seattle was known for excellent college football teams (Go Huskies, hook them ‘horns and hook ’em good) it was known as a town with an excellent music scene and strong independent musicians. Jim Basnight is an irresistible musical force from Seattle and he’s been rocking there and across the world from the very beginning of the indie music movement.

Jim has a brand new album ‘Summertime Peculiar‘ out now and a double-side single, “Summertime Again” and “Stay to the End.” The album is a departure musically for Basnight as he gets into a lot of new styles, moods and instrumentation, including horns, woodwinds, strings and unique vocal arrangements, to provide listeners with a wide swath of feels. It’s a fun, first-rate work with 21 tracks and is chock full of trademark Basnight hooks and humor.

The new work continues a strong run of success for Basnight’s digital single releases over the last 3 ½ years on indie rock radio stations, rock and roll specialty shows, cable television channels, widely followed podcasts, webzines and print media. Whatever digital party he chooses to crash, Rocker Jim always gets much respect.

Jim is not shy when describing the songs his new single, “I feel both are excellent, top notch, very catchy pop tracks,” he says. “’Summertime Again,” is a hooky pop-rock pick and ‘Stay to the End’ brings the twang, with a solid feel and sticky lines that stick in your head. Both together make for very worthwhile double-sided hit potential. I hope you agree.”
