Firewoodisland bare all on intimate folk-pop gem ‘As Long As I Go’

Firewoodisland are Bristol based Norwegian/Welsh duo, Stian Vedøy and Abi Eleri. They deliver dynamic vocal harmonies and create an anthemic, cinematic sound that according to Wonderland Magazine, “immediately evokes a full-body chill in the first few opening bars.” Labelling their sound ‘mountain pop’ they combine the catchiness of pop with the sensibilities of indie, with some organic elements from folk.

Inner and outer beauty flow throughout Firewoodisland’s brand of intricate, cinematic, indie folk music. The duo has a way of bringing their listeners as close as possible. With all audio and visual being created in their own home, you encounter a little piece of their soul when you experience Firewoodisland’s work.

Hailing from a windswept west coast island of Norway, Stian met Abi after moving to Cardiff to study for a master in music production. Abi was at the time studying illustration, and the two paired up to form the band. They released an EP and and a debut album which comfortably introduced them into the music scene. Their self titled 2nd album (2020) was a turning point for Firewoodisland, as the duo finally felt at home creatively.

With support from Clash Mag, Wonderland, Atwood Mag, BBC 6 Music, BBC 2, Norway’s NRK P3, as well as seeing music in TV series like Grey’s Anatomy, Netflix Shadowhunter, Global TV’s NURSES and several MTV shows, the duo is building an exciting name to follow. The end of 2020 saw Firewoodisland releasing a delicate rendition of Alphaville’s Forever Young via Warner Music UK, featured in an Airbnb advert it the US and Canada, ending up in the top 100 Shazam chart for a whole week.

2023 has been a year of new beginnings. The duo have been releasing singles from their upcoming LP, and is now presenting you with the A-side in form of an EP called As Long As I Go.
