RISING R&B PHENOMENON GENIA DROPS SOULFUL & STUNNING COVER OF “DREAMS” BY FLEETWOOD MAC

DEBUT MIXTAPE 4PM IN THE VILLE ARRIVES IN JUNE

April 27, 2023 – Gaining traction as an artist to watch this year, rising R&B singer and songwriter Genia shares a stirring and soulful cover of the Fleetwood Mac classic “Dreams”  today via Def Jam Recordings. Listen to “Dreams” HERE and watch the music video HERE.

Accompanied by warm clean guitar, Genia most definitely does the original “Dreams” justice, while adding a touch of her own magic. With a nuanced and deliberate performance, she infuses the track with grit and spirit in equal measure, delivering a relevant and raw homage to this timeless anthem. In the music video, she sits atop a hill in Los Angeles and sings as if addressing the city. While the guitarist plucks the melody on a Fender Strat, Genia captivates once again.

It follows her latest single “Jaded.” It has just begun to react on DSPs, while Global Grind touted it on its “New Music Roundup.

The latter landed in the wake of her breakout anthem “Introducing. Last month, it lit up Soundcloud with 200K streams in its first week and vaulted to #1 on the Soundcloud New & Hot: R&B Chart. Right out of the gate, Earmilk proclaimed, “she is a name for music fans to remember, and Def Pen attested, “It’s safe to say that the secret is out. Genia is here and it doesn’t look like she’s leaving anytime soon.”

Everything just sets the stage for her forthcoming debut mixtape 4PM in the Ville out in June.

Genia rides for the underdogs. Fiery yet thoughtful with her pen, the 21-year-old makes music that, like her, can’t be put into a box. On her debut single, “Introducing” on Def Jam, she delivers a melodic manifesto over a speaker-rattling beat brimming with soulful samples and blaring horns. Is she a singer? Is she a rapper? Genia is whomever she wants to be. “I feel like I make music for everybody,” she says. “But mainly for women to feel badass. That was kind of my thing: to make bad bitch music, but also vulnerable music, almost like somebody’s reading my diary.” This raw approach comes from a lifetime of using music as therapy. Growing up in a turbulent household in Victorville, CA, Genia dreamt of escape. Through her grandmother, she found it first in Prince’s Purple Rain, and listening to consummate artists like Beyoncé and Lady Gaga inspired her to forge her own alter ego: a woman who’s as tough as she is creative, who handles her business. She was working at Walmart and studying to be a nurse when Covid hit. Amid the stress, she quit and turned to music. After striking TikTok gold in November 2020 with her version of Deborah Cox’s “Nobody’s Supposed to Be Here,” Genia went hard — refining her vocals, writing, and dancing under the wing of producer/engineer Jaycen Joshua over the next two years. Now she’s deep in new music, with plenty more soul-bearing yet savage songwriting and nostalgic production on deck. And like all introductions, Genia’s is just the beginning.
