Portland’s Spooky Boys Serve Up Crisp Indie Surf Rock at Lollipop Shoppe, by Nat Schmid

Spooky Boys played an EP release show at Lollipop Shoppe this past Wednesday. Charts got the night started with some classic rock tunes to get everyone up and on their feet. Salo Panto hit the stage next with some really vibey psych rock to get everyone ready for the main event of Spooky Boys. Spooky Boys came out of the gates swinging the crisp indie surf rock guitar and smooth vocals. Spooky boys started with a few classics including Hazy, one of my personal favorites. The band then moved into playing the new EP front to back to give everyone who braved the rain a taste of what was to come on friday. The EP “Late Bloomers” was a beautiful set of three songs, with a title that is very on the nose of growing later in life. The band will be on a short hiatus after the release, but I am sure we will hear more from them later this year.
