Seattle’s gloryBots Announce New LP for Late April Release + Share Single “Hot Panic”

After two successful album releases, Dark Alien Pop (2018) and Invisible (2020), gloryBots began their intergalactic journey toward a third, full-length album entitled Radiation Skies, which will be released on April 21 and deals with the harsh reality of our times. To this effect, much of the songwriting occurred during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Only this time terrestrial noisemaker Jalal Andre, the architect behind gloryBots’ sci-fi landscapes and cosmic rock riffs, is accompanied on his current voyage by Ilya Krisa (bass) and Don Gunn (drums), forming a dynamic and adventurous trio.

Ilya Krisa stepped aboard the gloryBots ship in 2020, having previously played with multiple bands throughout his 10 years in Seattle. The Siberian-born multi-instrumentalist had been delivering his musical vision mainly through guitar before joining gloryBots, and even though he was no stranger to bass, it took time for him to leave his mark within Jalal’s carefully crafted soundscapes. Repurposing pedal toys from his guitar days, which included building and re-building his pedalboards, Ilya was guided by the influences of Peter Hook, Carlos Dengler, and Nick Oliveri to generate a different take on gloryBots’ bass tone and presence, which is felt throughout Radiation Skies. Be sure to check out the album’s closing song, “Titan”, to appreciate its’ glory, no pun intended.

Don Gunn was initially brought on board to mix the record as the songs were finished by Jalal, Ilya, and their previous drummer. With a vacancy in the drum chair occurring four songs into the record, Don was asked to not only continue mixing songs, but to play and record drums for the balance of the album, as well as the previously finished songs. He was honored to be asked to move out from his usual, daily position behind the mixing console and bring his flavor and influences to the gloryBots sound.

For Jalal, the opportunity to invite the talent and contribution of others has always been an important part of crafting the gloryBots sound. Radiation Skies incorporates an evolution of ingredients taken from both prior albums, now filtered through the lenses of Don and Ilya. gloryBots is excited to share this work with fans and the music community.
