Portland’s Maita announces new album Loneliness out February 17 on Kill Rock Stars

Acclaimed Portland-based songwriter Maita and Kill Rock Stars are excited to announce the Friday, February 17 release of Loneliness, an acoustic version of the 2022 album, I Just Want To Be Wild For You (pre-order/pre-save HERE). Today Maita released “Honey, Have I Lost It All?” (acoustic version) the first single to be lifted from the upcoming album. The song is available now on all streaming platforms for any playlists shares.

Maita’s latest offering, Loneliness is an unorthodox release for the prolific writer, in that the track listing is exactly the same as 2022’s I Just Want to Be Wild For You. Following the release of IJWTBWFU, Maita felt the urge to record a quiet, introspective record, allowing the same songs to be heard in a different light, closer to how they were originally written.

The once bombastic ‘‘Honey, Have I Lost It All,’’ an ode to fearing writers block and obsolescence, comes across as gauzy yearning, while “Pastel Concrete,” shows up not as the jaunty surf-pop audiences are familiar with, instead a wistful reflection of the shallow depths of Southern California sunshine.

Throughout the record, songwriter Maria Maita-Keppeler, accompanied only by her nylon string guitar, re-imagines I Just Want to Be Wild For You, cementing her place among the echelon of today’s greatest songwriters.

Named Willamette Week’s 2020 “Best New Band,” MAITA has gone on to reach national acclaim, opening for the likes of Mirah, Blind Pilot, Horse Feathers, Typhoon, as well as performing at SXSW and Treefort.

Maita has announed February tour dates in the Pacific Northwest. The upcoming tour includes several dates supporting The Ballroom Thieves and a performance at the Dark Arts Festival in Astoria, OR.  Tickets are on sale now and upcoming shows are listed below.
