The Degrees channel 90s trip hop on ‘No Escape’

Announcing the epic new single, music video and forthcoming debut album from The Degrees on Goldie’s Fallen Tree 1Hundred label.

After a year of consistent single releases that saw The Degrees pick up over 100 plays across UK radio, on the BBC and achieving playlist status on Jazz FM, Bristol duo Isha Campbell and Charlie Bierman aka The Degrees deliver their latest single ‘No Escape’ – a pre-curser to the release of the debut album, The Day Out of Time.

There’s a clear sense of heritage in The Degrees’ music, the pair heavily influenced by classic soul, acid jazz and the trip-hop sound of their UK hometown, Bristol. Shades of Massive Attack and Portishead are hard to ignore the sweeping strings and grand song structure of No Escape could even lean some listeners towards Bond theme territory – it’s cinematic, with darkness, soul and an edge.

Fallen Tree 1Hundred and The Degrees are presenting the single with a specially commissioned music video, directed by award-winning filmmaker Greg Francis and shot by acclaimed Director of Photography Chaz Appeti, fresh from creating a major new series for Amazon Prime, the crime drama Jungle.

The video tells a cautionary tale of balance within the life of a popular social media influencer, at odds with his own sense of status and spiralling instability, there’s no escaping the real world…
