SOPHIE AND THE GIANTS RELEASE “WE OWN THE NIGHT”

“Let’s just keep dancing, keep dancing like we own the night…”

Fresh from providing Europe’s summer soundtrack, Sophie and the Giants return with a brand new single that will dominate dancefloors and beyond. Additionally, Sophie Scott has also announced an intimate London show ahead of her full European tour this autumn.

The London-based artist will release “We Own The Night” on 19 August. A headlong charge into pulsing neon lights, with its insistent synths, body-moving beats and intoxicating vocals, the song is a gloriously vivid snapshot of the peak of a truly great night out, fizzing with euphoric warmth, communal exhilaration and an enticing hint of what’s to come after those lights go out.

Authentically capturing the blissful atmosphere that occurs when people are brought together by the power of the music playing, We Own The Night finds Sophie and the Giants revelling in the moment, radiating an unstoppable, edgy joy.

“This song is about making those unforgettable nights out with your friends,” explains Sophie of the track that marks the evolution of Sophie and the Giants from a band-based set-up into a solo project. “We Own The Night is about those times when nothing else matters except that one moment!”

A track that is sure to transport the listener straight back into that rhythmic mass of dancing bodies whenever they hear it, We Own The Night is also bound to be the song playing as many more unforgettable memories are made on dancefloors in the months to come.

“It’s pure hedonism!” declares Sophie. “Forgetting reality for just one night, and partying with reckless abandon.”

Following the single’s release Sophie and the Giants will play an intimate show London’s Moth Club on Tuesday, 22 November 2022. Tickets for the intimate show go on sale at 10am (BST) on Friday 19 August via http://metropolism.uk/iwhZ50KiO6V

We Own The Night comes hot on the heels of Sophie’s recent collaboration with German DJ Purple Disco Machine, In The Dark. A smouldering instant disco classic, the track was a Number 1 across Europe earlier this year – even topping the EU-wide APC chart – and has since become a fixture at all the right parties and on all the most influential playlists as it been streamed over 100 million times since its release in April. Their second co-written track together, it followed on from Sophie and Purple Disco Machine’s 2020 hit Hypnotized, which – equally irresistible to dancers and DJs a like – has been streamed over 350 million times to date.

These recent singles build on the series of beloved and acclaimed singles Sophie and the Giants have released since 2018 under Scott’s lead. While possessing that rare ability to make an immediate connection on the dancefloor, it is the vivid, heartfelt songwriting and Scott’s dexterous and distinctive vocals that has really bonded audiences to ‘the Giants’, amassing over an initial 95 million streams as Sophie’s songs manage to balance brilliantly evocative lyrics with some genuinely universal and anthemic moments.

With a succession of inspired remixes helping to cement a place at the heart of current club culture, Scott’s evolution as a solo artist looks set to taker her further into that space while also allowing her to build on Sophie and the Giants’ already formidable live reputation – something Sophie’s showpiece performance of 2021 hit Golden Nights during the Semi-Final of the Eurovision Song Contest earlier this year demonstrated.

We Own The Night will be released by the Universal Music Group, the opening salvo in what promises to be a fruitful new relationship, while in addition to the UK  date, Sophie and the Giants kick off a 2022 European tour in Cologne on 24 November.
