Saturday, July 4, 2022. Typical Saturday morning. Waited for my copy of Barrons to arrive; fed two guinea pigs and two cats; grabbed something for self from the fridge; read something quietly so as to not disturb anyone; retrieved said paper; ate breakfast while reading paper; watched tv; and, performed house/yard work as necessary. But this was July Fourth, the day the Lord gave Joey “Jaws” Chestnut to display his hot dog eating prowess, which is showcased at Coney Island on tv at noon CST.
Chestnut is an American treasure who holds the all-time record of hot dog consumption https://majorleagueeating.com/records/. This truly American subculture of gluttony (https://majorleagueeating.com) unites people regardless of race, geography, sex, and income. So I sat for the “pre-game” that included contestant Eric “Bandlands” Booker, a behemoth of a man, performing one of his rap tunes. Bandlands Booker also won the undercard event, i.e., the one gallon lemonade chug. He downed the pink liquid in approximately 30 seconds without the container leaving his lips. Only in America.
My neighbor pulled into his driveway with daughter in tow. I asked if they planned to watch the eating contest. However, he was upset because our suburb’s Fourth of July parade had been canceled due to the shooting that occurred just north of me in Highland Park. I turned to my wife and said, “I bet the shooter is a white male between 18-30 years old.” I then tweeted:
If my neighbor had brought his AR-15 or one of his many handguns to the parade he could have prevented the shooting. Yeah…right… Don’t mindlessly swallow the nra BS. And FU SCOTUS.
I copied Gov. Jesse Ventura, Jello Biafra, Joe Biden, Chuck D, Dr. Harry Edwards, and the Forward Party, which is Andrew Yang’s attempt to break the control of our broken two-party system.
I then stumbled upon a tweet from @h4ndcrushed. She tweeted:
I cant fucking believe I was in the middle of a mass shooting ive felt safe at this parade for 18 years and today I got hit with a bullet and nothing will change in america this is ridiculous
Unfortunately, the user removed the post, but you can still read the responsive tweets. I say “unfortunately” because she included a front-and-center selfie. The bullet grazed her left cheek. One could see the gash and the blood over her face, neck, and blouse.
THIS IS, in my opinion, AN ICONIC PICTURE IN THE REALM OF Ali standing over Liston and the Vietnamese “Napalm Girl.” @h4ndcrushed‘s selfie illustrates America’s violent downward spiral: effen mass shootings where the white, young male killer is apprehended “without incident.” Think Buffalo, Charleston… Conversely, innocent Black People, e.g., Jayland Walker, LaQuan McDonald, and Breonna Taylor are murdered by police. Just after dinner, police apprehended the WHITE, MALE, 21 y/o Highland Park murderer (at this time the toll was at least seven dead, including parents being dead as their two-year old was found walking around looking for his parents!!!) WITHOUT INCIDENT.
