GIRLZLUHDEV DROPS WOOZY BANGER “KILL TIME” OFF FORTHCOMING CHILLI MON$TAA PROJECT

Inland Empire rapper GirlzLuhDev returns with the intoxicating new single “Kill Time.”

The track exudes Cali swag as exploding percussion buoys Dev’s introspective yet lax flow, which dips and dives between effortless melodies and precise bars. “Kill Time” is accompanied by a playful video, which leans into the artist’s DIY aesthetic. Watch it HERE. “Kill Time” is the first single off of Dev’s forthcoming Chilli Mon$taa summer project.  “Kill Time” boasts the sort of laidback, effortless cool that has made Dev one of California’s most exciting new stars. Over bouncy bass, colorful string patches, and woozy synths, the rap breakout unveils a barrage of bars that showcases his ability to conjure melodies out of thin air. “I’ve got some things, I really want to get this off my chest,” he raps with the precision of a seasoned veteran. “I’m stacking chicken and doing numbers, what’s the bigger flex?”

The accompanying visual offers a glimpse into Dev’s life, allowing fans and newcomers full access to his undeniable charisma. Filmed through a grainy, DIY lens, the rapper moves from the park, where his partner offers a masterclass in twerking in front of a number of grandfather clocks, to a rooftop surrounded by skyscrapers. The various locales emphasize Dev’s approachability amidst his skyrocketing success. “Kill Time” follows a hot streak of recent singles including the recently released “Sorry for Lackin,” “Leg or Arm,” the pounding “Gas Me Up,” and the somber “Dead Bro.” It continues a sustained run of success that began with 2020’s “Tooka,” which launched him to the national stage and earned him a deal with Capitol. This run of unimpeachable singles has established Dev as one to watch. With tracks like “Kill Time,” the young MC shows another, more playful aspect of his artistry and cements his status as one of hip-hop’s rising stars. To date Dev has amassed nearly 50 million streams.

GirlzLuhDev is a rapper, singer, ex-basketball star, and—quite possibly—America’s next great hitmaker. Oh, and he’s a senior in high school. The 18-year-old artist from California’s Inland Empire is a year into making music but has already landed a viral hit, the raunchy but blissed out “Tooka.” Supported by simple beats and rich keys, he parlays his youthful energy into a bright blend of bars, warbled melodies, and ad libs that sounds like smack talk beamed down from a distant planet. It’s sun-baked West Coast street rap meets the wonky charm of a kid with nothing to lose. Signed to Capitol Records, Dev has his sights set on the national spotlight.
