You don’t have to have a big elaborate wedding, but instead could make the most of the cool urban venues and restaurants that the eastside has to offer. You could even enjoy a simple picnic with family and friends looking over the Gorge, the Willamette or the Columbia. There is certainly something for everyone in East Portland, and you can make it a day to remember.

Wedding venues with a difference

It is a little known fact though, that Jacobsen Salt has a beautiful events room which seats 150 people – perfect for a modern city wedding. The Evergreen (618 SE Alder St, Portland, OR 97214) is another beautiful venue that can host intimate weddings of 40 or larger parties of up to 550 people. The ballroom is elegant and refined, and the team at The Evergreen can arrange catering, music and the sound and lights for your big day. The venue is also within walking distance of the Eastbank Esplanade, which would be a great place for photos.

Party places on a budget

If you live in East Portland you could consider having your wedding reception in your own backyard. Hosting a wedding party at home can be really personal and intimate, and you can stick to your own schedule. It can also save you money on one of the biggest wedding expenses – venue hire. There are also some beautiful places in Portland to have a fun wedding picnic with family and friends. In the summer months you could all head down to the beach area off the Eastern Promenade, or even take a boat ride. Portland Spirit run scenic cruises of downtown Portland – you could celebrate your wedding on the waters and enjoy a glass of champagne on your tour.

Dining in style

East Portland has the reputation for adventurous and interesting restaurants. If you’re having a small, intimate wedding, what better way to celebrate than by sharing a meal with your loved ones. Lobster will give your wedding a sense of luxury. And Portland has plenty of fine seafood dining.
