The latest from Saleka – M Night Shyamalan’s daughter – is a really special song and video that she wrote last year in early summer when the world was on fire with hate and it felt like we were free-falling.
Saleka would say since she is a SE Asian woman seeking to bring positive change to the American race front, all the proceeds from this track will go to two organizations out of Philadelphia (where she is from) — one organization is Beyond the Bars and the other is YSRP.
“I wanted this song to be a sort of protest song but it was written during moments of darkness and despair and so what came out was more an expression of my disbelief at the system, the absence of justice and accountability, and mostly the unfathomable lack of value and care for human life. I was overwhelmed with questions,” says Saleka.
