‘I Ain’t Got Time To Lose’: Remember That, by Davin Michael Stedman

Homie, that’s not Plato
I just wrote at 2:40 (something) AM this morning a new song called, ‘I Ain’t Got Time To Lose’.

Remember that.

Learning about Seneca’s philosophy on the shortness of life and the value of time, has lit another fire in me. And this song is about all that. I don’t have much time to lose.

Don’t waste your time. It’s precious. So are the people you want to enjoy it with. May they be the same ones who respect it.

I’m trying.

Now I open up a book. A book is time folded onto itself for your gain. A good book is a way to leap through time.

A good song is a way I save time, by opening doors both those physical and in your mind.

But I ain’t got much time. At the very best my life is half way over, and these next ten years are critical. I may have tricked time to look younger than I did at 30, but in less than 10 years I will be 50, and I cannot run ahead of my age forever.

Time comes for us all. Thank goodness. If not, even fewer of us would treasure the gift that is time. Time that gives us music, and time that will take everything time gave us. Time will give it all away.

It’s just past 3 am now, and I have no time to waste. I worked ten hours today. I traded my time for a sum of money that is being taken from me by interest and the false illusions of comforts and my own foolishness and pride.
