APOLOGIES IF A VIDEO ISN’T AVAILABLE IN YOUR COUNTRY

1 Equiknoxx – Brooklyn (60)

Jamaican producers make Brooklyn sound like it used to. Their latest release Eternal Children is brilliant. Can’t get enough of these guys.

2  The Bordellos – My Dream Festival (43)

Another great blast from the Bordellos past. One of the great British bands of the last decade. People will discover them in the same way they discovered the Velvets etc

3  Hygiene – He Doesn’t Want To Pay His Taxes (80)

Canadian outfit who have set up in London and their album is great, their songs are everything that’s great and shit about the UK at the same time.

4  Pacific Coliseum – Mornings At Made’s ( 204)

Lovely gentle piece of Balearic bliss for the summer. Yes it’ll probably sound better in situ but it makes BOP dream of later summer evenings on the white isle

5  Ivan The Tolerable – ‘Les Gémeaux’  (216)

Another week, another  charting for Ivan. This band are more than just a silly name they have a range of releases out there, that verge on the experimental, but have a warmth and wit that carries them through.

6.  John Johanna – Children of Zion  (312)

Bunch of hippies ? bunch of Christians ?  We can’t quite make this one out,  is it Christian rock ? But it has such lovely melodies we’re going to let them off and say yes we’ll have that.

7 Equiknoxx feat Alozade Fly Away (Dubbed by Gavsborg) (315)

What … another entry by Equiknoxx ? Yes two entries by the same act in this week’s chart because we are that enamoured by them. One of the best things we’ve heard this year. Dancehall for the 21st century.

8. MadMadMad – Hot Disco (486)

What it says on the box. Hot & disco and very funky. Loving it

9  Pat Todd & the Rankoutsiders  – “Took a Wrong Turn” (484)

Great old school melodic  punky shouty stuff . Probably their only good song. But every band must have their one song and that’s enough for us.

10  Detroit Executives – Cool Off  (513)

Proto Barry White with the most perfect Northern Soul backing singers and that Motown soul sound that ruled the airwaves for a decade. Play it, play it again and then… play agin. Bliss.

GRAHAM DOMAIN
LOVE & SADNESS . EP

There is something strangely magical about the weirdness of the musical world Graham Domain lives; a throwback to the days of the 80s when Japan and Black skirted around the regions of the hit parade; a soothing charade of yesterdays bedsit clothes and art school glamour songs to lose yourself in; to bathe in the afterglow of a pure sadness; an LP to soundtrack falling in and out of love to and an LP to fall in love with.

Because as we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know.

We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know.

But there are also unknown unknowns – the ones we don’t know we don’t know.
