APOLOGIES IF A VIDEO ISN’T AVAILABLE IN YOUR COUNTRY

1 Pete Um – Real Rock & Roll  (7)

Brilliant, starts sounding like a creaky door, opening, album cover has a man sawing his own arm off and he tells the kids how rock n roll he is. A breath of fresh air and will be listened to by no-one.

2  The Natural Yoghurt Band – Colours (11)

Perennial BOP faves are back with a new album. A little more mellow than previous outings but still enjoyable, has a bit of a Moorcheeba feel about it.

3  Frank Hurricane –  Saddest $5 Footlong (16)

The best American folk song we’ve heard this year, wonderful beautiful sad song that is all about the America of now. This is a new artist discovery for us and with a couple of albums already under his belt we can’t wait for future releases. Lynyrd Skynyrd  meets M Ward is what comes to our mind.

4  Snake Rattlers – Do The The Rattle Rock (93)

Apparently pretty popular on the pub and club live scene in the UK at the moment. And why not  The Cramps meets the Meteors for 2019.

5  Village of Spaces – Forget Me Not  (119)

More wonderful American music that defies any particular description, folk psych, if you must. But it just fills the soul here at BOP.

6  Necking – Ford Commercial (354)

Great new band we’ve just come across. If the Raincoats were young and North American in 2019 this is what they’d sound like. Really hope they get noticed.

7  Home Body – Comet (521)

Poptronics like it should sound, even echoes of mid eighties Banshees hiding in there.

8  Moulay Ahmed El Hassani  – Lgaro Ya Ould Lhram (666)

Off to Morocco for this one. Beautifully produced track ( and album for that matter) that gives a new twist to all the North Africa and Sahel sounds we are hearing at the moment. Have become quite addicted to this over the past week. If pop from the west sounded as good as this i’d be spending money on the genre.

9 Kapote – Delirio Italiano  (891)

Quite, simply .. summer is coming in Europe and it’s sounding good so far !

10  POW! – Here It Comes (940)

They’re back and that makes us very happy. We love POW so much xxxxx

THE BORDELLOS
CRABS EP

We have here a delicious anti record shop release by nobody less than the Bordellos. Thank you The Bordellos! You are life savers!
YEAH I KNOW IT SUCKS

The Bordellos are making some of the best pop music I’ve heard, it’s just they’re doing it in such a wilfully obscure way you’ll never hear it.
HEAD HERITAGE

The truth is, I would imagine, that these songs are the very antithesis of the manufactured happy pills that count as pop songs these days and that makes them,
for that very reason,  worthy of a list

Because as we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know.

We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know.

But there are also unknown unknowns – the ones we don’t know we don’t know.
