1 Local Teen – Julia Louis Dreyfus Is a Goddamn American Legend (52)
Good in a sort of Lemonheads kinda way.. and let’s be honest the best song title of theweek.
2 Reigning Sound – Shaw (109)
Out on Merge records. Normally stuff on these big American “indie” labels just stink ofboredom but this lot have a bit of soul to their sound. Hope to hear more of them sounding fresh like this.
3 Flaming Gods – Club Coco (102)
We read some press release saying how they were / are influenced by Turkish psych and stuff. Sort of sound like a fresher Flaming Lips. It won’t change the world but it’s the sortof thing a mojo/ uncut reader will play in the garden shed of the weekend so his wife and kids don’t get disturbed by that crazy psychedelic music sound.
4 Ashinoa – Katy Pane (196)
Ready for a 14 minute opus ! Know nothing about this lot except to say this is contemporary psychedelia at its best. Doesn’t get too prog, stays funky and has that Kikagaku Moyo vibe about it. Love this.
5 Glitoris – What A Cunt (237)
Don’t fuck with those Aussie women ! I think they may be more pissed off than Crass attheir peak. It’s understandable in this day and age.. seems they aren’t fans of argon oil hair products either.
6 Club Kuru – By The Windowpane (319)
This is rather good. Don’t like all their stuff but this song has us hooked. Almost like a 70’s west coast song goes all Pink Floyd from the same era. It’s got me.
7 Cosmic Flanders – Weekend At Bunnings (354)
18 months old but worth inclusion simply because anybody who can write a gentle psych song about spending one’s weekend hours in Australia’s leading hardware store ( think home depot ) is fine by us. We wonder which aisle he’s stuck in … lumber, electrical or power tools.
8 Bob Passion & The Schkoots – j’attends dement (540)
Old French bloke who wears a blue leather jacket and can’t take his motorbike helmet off does a bad Plastic Bertrand ripoff and mindless video. Combine all those things and it’s almost genius !
9 My Red Cell – Her Religion (828)
A decade old and still under the 1000 plays mark! On Facebook last week somebody asked anybody checking in if they knew of bands that they thought were criminally ignored. I said Ten Benson, because that’s just a fact. Somebody else brought up this lot, a little overwrought but not half bad. Just to let you know i had to pile through about 300 awful suggestions before i got to My Red Cell. A combination of awful taste and awful outfits who quite rightly deserve to consigned to the dustbin of history.
10 The Schizophonics – Venus Transit (935)
Favourite discovery of the week. San Diego outfit channelling brother Wayne and the MC5 ( Check their live you tube clips they get their funk rock on in a way that we haven’t seen for a long time) . Fucking fantastically fabulous.

THE BORDELLOS
CRABS EP

We have here a delicious anti record shop release by nobody less than the Bordellos. Thank youThe Bordellos! You are life savers!
YEAH I KNOW IT SUCKS
The Bordellos are making some of the best pop music I’ve heard, it’s just they’re doing it in such a wilfully obscure way you’ll never hear it.

The truth is, I would imagine, that these songs are the very antithesis of the manufactured happy pills that count as pop songs these days and that makes them,
for that very reason, worthy of a list
