Casey Brookbush, by Davin Michael Stedman

I am clearly a big fan of Casey Brookbush. I shot this at Hangar 420 Snohomish before the storm of 420 swept over us.

It was a fun day working with old friend Jess Webb who was one of the people that can say she was there in 2002 when the The Staxx Brothers got started, hit the road, and wrote this two tribute to Hendrix that I hope The Soul United Allstars will allow to live again.

…And catch Casey in concert. He’s also a damn good drummer. Every one of his paintings are like a good drummer. You recognize the drummer, but in each instance he is serving the artist. That’s in essence what he does as a painter, starting as so many of us do, with a black musical canvas.

The subject is singer, the painting is the songs. The brush and the sticks aren’t so far apart. Some drumsticks are just brushes.
