A NOTE TO AN INFLUENTIAL DJ (about Massy Ferguson), by Davin Michael Stedman

I don’t write recommendations and glowing introductions for just anybody. I only write what what I mean and only say what I believe. Ethan is on tour in Spain repping Seattle music on a level I admire and hope to someday follow in these footsteps. He’s been making treks with his band for years across Europe with his bass guitar, his acoustic, his honesty, and his songs.

A NOTE TO AN INFLUENTIAL DJ

_____ I might never make such an intro on messenger again, such a friend and artist is Ethan Anderson.

If you ever have a chance to get to know him or interview him, I think you’ll really dig his story,

…and especially when you see what truly separates him from the pack of so called Roots Rock and Americana, you appreciate him even more as a songwriter.

He’s got a genuine knack for bringing people together, and I purposefully matched him up with African American artists I love in a similar way, Eric Martin and Stephanie Anne Johnson. They ended up collaborating on a brilliant benefit show that contained moments like this,

Ethan has a new record with his band Massy Ferguson. They get spins on _____. They’re in Spain right now on tour. That’s all good and very great. But when you both have the chance you should connect as friends. Trust in that. _____ goes deep into this ethnomusicology thing, Ethan has an investment in social justice as a father.

Cheers.
