Andrea Bocelli – The Lord’s Prayer, By Anne Seymour Mette

I’m from a little church that watched the choir dwindle, with words from the small audience of “God Bless Them”, meaning….Thanks for trying, but your better days were 20 years ago!

Those older saints , who poured their hearts out of tired vocal cords and hung their choir robes up to rest, were now forced to listen to the younger generation’s version of ‘worship’ music.

The drums were too loud. The instruments bothered some hearing aids. The words were repetitive and didn’t sound like our old hymns.
This version of “Our Father” by Bocelli is ‘Sacred Music”. It bridges a gap between the ‘Old’ and the ‘New’ church music. Something that can speak to all ages of the prayer Jesus taught us, and the power of music to bring us to a place of worship.
