Pink Floyd Immersion Extortion!‏ – Wish You Were Here Box Set – By Tom Kipp

[Re: Pink Floyd – Wish You Were Here – Immersion Box Set – Price $118.33]

Love the idea, hate the price, and yet I do feel just the slightest tingle of temptation! LOL

Will NOT be making said purchase, but would love to see/hear its contents at some point, as it’s my equal-fave amongst The Floyd Canon, along with PIPER AT THE GATES OF DAWN, and has been since I was a Montana teenager and purchased most of my Floyd LPs throughout the year of our lord 1979.

On my own “Desirability Scale” of 0 [the remastered Asia or Toto catalogs sans bonus cuts!] to 10 [the remastered catalogs of The Brains and Human Switchboard!], I’d rate the WISH YOU WERE HERE “immersion box” a solid 7, with 8 being my cut-off for “automatic purchase” [virtually ALL Stooges, Beefheart, Television & Bonzo Dog Band effluvia make said cut!].

At any rate, close, but no “Have a Cigar”….

By the by, I won’t even consider splurging on the newly-remastered single-cd, as I already own the most recently remastered edition from about ten years back, which was the 3rd or 4th compact disc iteration and sounds just fine! At the time I congratulated myself on having the perspicacity to wait 15 years for the digital dust to settle. But this is simply de trop!

Re: the immersion boxes for DARK SIDE & THE WALL, I’d rate them at 5 & 6, respectively, in terms of my scaled interest. I’ve never owned THE WALL on cd, so perhaps an inexpensive-enough remaster might tempt me, though I’d prefer dvd-audio there, if only so I could listen to the whole damned thing without getting up from the couch and/or my bed, as with my dvd copy of THE LAMB LIES DOWN ON BROADWAY from the GENESIS 1970-75 box set! LOL

Prog Rock Marginal Distinctions….who can justify them, even to oneself?!
