According to their Wikipedia entry, “The Honeycombs were an English beat/pop group, founded in 1963 in North London. The group had one chart-topping hit, the million selling “Have I the Right?”, in 1964… The group’s most distinguishing mark was their female drummer, Honey Lantree.”

“Have I the Right?” was produced by London record producer Joe Meek, who recorded three number one hits in his apartment studio, “Johnny Remember Me” by John Leyton, “Telstar” by The Tornados and “Have I the Right?” among many other successful and well regarded songs in his brief career. In the video below, Honeycombs’ drummer Honey Lantree describes Meek’s temper. In 1967, according to Wikipedia, Meek, depressed and in debt, killed his landlady with a shotgun, then turned the gun on himself.
