Seattle trumpeter Thomas Marriott’s new work, Constraints & Liberations

Seattle trumpeter Thomas Marriott’s upcoming release on Origin records, Constraints & Liberations, is now available for preorder from Amazon (http://tinyurl.com/22rh3lh), and will be available in stores Nov. 16, 2010.

The video above is the electronic press kit for Both Sides of the Fence, Marriott’s 2007 release (http://tinyurl.com/2aozvt7). The vid gives you a feel for Marriott as an artist and a human being and introduces you to the fine musicians with which he records.

Jazz Times Magazine describes Marriott a “first-tier trumpet player” with “serious chops and a luxuriant trumpet sound.” “Luxuriant” fits Marriott’s rich trumpet sound perfectly. An experienced player, Marriott is an artist in his prime whose bio page on the Origin Records website lists 24 albums on which Marriott has trumpeted, and occasionally, flugelhorned. In constant demand, Marriott performs frequently at the Seattle jazz club, New Orleans Creole Restaurant, and across the length and breadth of the Pacific Northwest Jazz scene.

Another fine work by Marriott is East-West Trumpet Summit, an album done with Ray Vega. (http://tinyurl.com/2aozvt7)
